Keeping the Adventure Alive while Working the 9 to 5

Hello, I’m Kristin!

New Englander, designer,

travel planner and adventurer.

I never took the opportunity to study abroad in college, but by the time I realized that I had a real passion for travel, I was already stuck in a 9-5 career with limited vacation time.

I grew up with parents who were both self-employed so we took our one week vacation a year, and made the most of it! As I got older I realized that there were opportunities for adventure outside of the one vacation per year. Every weekend is an opportunity to adventure, every day is an opportunity for a day trip, every detour is an opportunity to explore a new place. I quickly found out that adventures didn’t have to be lavish to be enjoyable.

After a few months of stagnancy, my boyfriend and I decided we were both in need of a quick getaway to refuel our adventurous souls. When he first suggested Newport, RI, I wasn’t all that excited about it since I had been there a million times before! Kyle on the other hand had not explored Newport that much at all so I was down for the adventure!
Ginnie Springs campground was something that my boyfriend remembered fondly from his childhood. He reminisced about family camping trips and days at the drag races nearby. But years later, he couldn’t WAIT to show me the beautiful water of Ginnie Springs. So it was fitting that we’d have the opportunity to go this year for his 30th birthday! Maybe it’s because we’re just finishing up a pandemic or maybe it’s my complete overwhelm by crowds sometimes, but Ginnie Springs campround was A LOT to take in. If you’re like me and like to avoid big party crowds, here are some pointers.
I’ve seen a lot of back and forth on this topic lately. Especially now, as the vaccine rollout continues to progress, we’re starting to see the travel industry get moving again, and people venturing out for the first time in over a year. Unfortunately there is still a lot of debate about travel during Covid. Here are a few of the opinions I’ve heard floating around throughout the last year.
